A McDonald’s employee in Milan, Illinois, has been recognized for his outstanding customer service with a Hospitality Ambassador award. Nate Coleman, a crew trainer, is known for his positivity and optimism while serving customers.
Dennis and Trina Gendron, the local owners of the McDonald’s restaurant, presented Coleman with the award on Friday. Coleman has been working at his current position for three years, and his dedication has made him a favorite among customers.
“Nate goes over and beyond with customer satisfaction,” Trina Gendron said.
“It really first came to me when I was on the Facebook page. And just so many customers were talking about how he made their day special, and just how he interacts with them. I knew we had to make a special award for him.”
Dennis Gendron added that Coleman has such a strong effect on the customers’ days that they end up reaching out to him and his wife.
“So, we just want to show him some appreciation,” he said.
Coleman, who began his McDonald’s journey in 2004, sees an opportunity to offer great customer service while working the drive-thru and delivering happy meals.
“Every year I’ve learned, and I took stuff that has helped me grow and make it better each year,” he said.
Customers know Coleman by many aliases, including McNate, Nate Drive Thru, Keeper of the Ketchup, Nate the Great, and Mr. Happy Meal.
“I’m grateful and honored because I take a lot of pride in what I do,” Coleman said.
“When I do it, I do it to make people’s day better, because I’ll never know what somebody might be going through. So, when they come and interact with me, it just makes me feel good to see them leave with a smile.”
